Chittagong Port Update:

  • Gearless vessels are facing an average berthing delay of 4–6 days.
  • Geared vessels are facing an average berthing delay of 1–3 days.

Patenga Container Terminal (PCT) Update:

  • RSGT Bangladesh has committed over USD $25 million to purchase 14 new hybrid Rubber-Tyred Gantry (RTG) cranes from GENMA-KALMAR, China.
  • RSGT has also ordered 4 Ship-to-Shore (STS) cranes from SANY MARINE worth USD $30 million, which will significantly enhance PCT’s handling capacity.

Dhaka Kamalapur ICD (BDDAC) Update:

  • Dwelling time for imports bound to Dhaka ICD has reached 20–22 days (20’) and 20–23 days (40’) due to locomotive shortages.
  • Overweight import containers (>25 tons/20ST) are experiencing severe delays of 30+ days.
  • Train departures from Chittagong to Dhaka remain at 2 per day, with tariffs and capacity unchanged.

Pangaon Container Terminal (BDPGN) Update:

  • Dwelling time for imports increased to 1–2 weeks.
  • Due to underperformance, CPA has requested all MLOs to utilize Pangaon more effectively by routing additional cargo.
  • Chittagong Port has withdrawn fixed freight rates on the Chattogram–Pangaon–Chattogram route, making rates subject to bilateral agreements.

Berthing Congestion & Vessel Update:

  • Average berthing delays: 3–5 days.
    • GCB (geared vessels): 1–3 days.
    • CCT/NCT (gearless vessels): 4–6 days.
  • Congestion has slightly eased compared to recent months.
  • Average port stay: 2–3 days.
  • No preferential berthing except for Bangladesh-flagged vessels.

Chittagong Port Container Yard (CY) Update:

  • Yard occupancy stands at 90.61%.
  • From 7th JulyChittagong Dry Dock Limited (CDDL), under Bangladesh Navy, has started operations at NCT terminals. Saif Powertec continues to operate CCT until 2026.
  • CPA has enforced strict rules: gearless vessels must depart within 48 hours, regardless of pending loads.
  • Operational inefficiencies persist due to equipment breakdowns, insufficient logistical support, and slower discharge operations.
  • Depots advised to promptly clear imports and empties.
  • No pre-stacking allowed for exports.
  • Around 70% of imports are being destuffed and delivered.
