Chattogram, Monday, 30 June 2025 — After two days of disruption, operations at Chattogram Port are returning to normal. The Customs “Pen Down Strike”, which brought container movements and clearance activities to a standstill, has now been officially withdrawn.

As of this morning, container movement from off-dock depots to the port has resumed, and customs functions have been reinstated across port and depot facilities. This development comes as a relief to exporters, importers, and logistics providers who had faced uncertainty during the unexpected shutdown.

The strike, initiated by customs officials protesting proposed changes in the National Board of Revenue (NBR) structure, significantly impacted Bangladesh’s busiest seaport over the weekend. Thanks to constructive dialogue, operations have now normalized.
